Funeral service for Frank Finley, age 86, of Decatur, will be Sunday, February 18, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Finley, who died Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born March 25, 1931, in Vivian, LA, to Charles Davis Finley and Birma Dempsey Finley. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Finley, parents, one brother, and one sister. Mr. Finley was a member of Central Park Baptist Church for 52 years, a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and retired from Amoco Chemicals following 43 years of service. He dearly loved his special companion, Cooper, who will greatly miss him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce Riley Finley of Decatur; two daughters, Kathy Sheats (Cliff) of Dallas, TX, and Nancy Sizemore (Kevin) of Decatur; one daughter-in-law, Jill Finley of Braselton, GA; three sisters, Frances Dunlap of Vivian, LA, Laverne Moncrief of Bakersfield, CA, and Vera Smith of Scott, LA; five grandchildren, Megan Clark (Chris), Jonathan Sheats (Amanda), Allison Sheats, Josh Sizemore, and Luke Sizemore; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Archer Clark; and several beloved nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express their gratitude to caregiver, Kathy Davis, for her compassionate and loving care for Mr. Finley.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Sheats, Luke Sizemore, Josh Sizemore, Stephen McCollum, Donny Riley, and Harold Martin.
