The family of Mrs. Elvie Mae Campbell Bolling, age 94, of Decatur, will host a memorial service at a later date. Her cremains will be interred in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
Mrs. Bolling passed away at USA Healthcare/Decatur Health & Rehabilitation, Decatur, AL, on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was born in Jay, FL, to Laurence Washington Campbell and Cora M. Simmons Campbell. Mrs. Bolling grew up during the Great Depression, living primarily in Jay and Brewton, AL. She was married to Edwin Earl Bolling for 67 years, and had three children, Robert, Janice, and Mark.
Following World War II, the family traveled between Lake Michigan and the Gulf Coast for nine years as Mr. Bolling worked on large construction projects of the era. In 1954, the family settled in Pensacola, FL, where they remained for many years. In 2013, several years after her husband's death, Mrs. Bolling moved to Decatur, AL, to be near her son, Robert.
Mrs. Bolling was a former member of Gateway Church of Christ and Scenic Hills Church of Christ in Pensacola, and more recently, Beltline Church of Christ, after she moved to Decatur. In her lifetime, Mrs. Bolling immensely enjoyed being around youngsters, doting on her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her church family, friends, the beach, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and plants.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Janice Dockman, her parents, and sisters, Ellen Bole ware and Juanita Neese. She is survived by sons, Robert Bolling (Lois) and Mark Bolling; grandsons, Michael Bolling, Dr. Timothy Dockman, Paul Bolling, and Carl Louis Dockman, as well 18 great-grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care extended to Mrs. Bolling over the last several years by the staff of Country Cottage Assisted Living, Westminster Assisted Living, and USA Healthcare/Decatur Health & Rehabilitation.
