Funeral service for Rodney Lynn "Rod" Carver, age 70, of Decatur, will be Friday, April 26, 2019, 1:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daren McNish officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to service. Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Carver, who died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Decatur Morgan Hospital's Parkway Campus, was born July 24, 1948, in Alexandria, LA, to Arthur Lynn Carver and Janie Poston Carver. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Carver was a U. S. Air Force veteran, and worked as a purchasing agent for Decatur Rubber & Gasket.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Alexander Carver of Decatur; one son, Lee Carver (Krissi) of Decatur; three stepdaughters, Melanie Lynn Sandlin (Scott) of Decatur, Shelley Nicole Cooper of Tuscaloosa, and Tiffany Goffe (Aran) of Austin, TX; his mother, Janie Carver of Decatur; one brother, Reggie Carver (Linda) of Decatur; four sisters, Judy Mitchell (Billy) of Moulton, Paula Batchelor (Wendell) of Decatur, Diane Smith (Randy) of Hartselle, and Angel Shaver of Decatur; two grandchildren, Kyle and Lexey Carver of Decatur; five step-grandchildren, Kenneth Hall, Jr., Madison Widner, Lexa Goffe, Finley Goffe, and Hugo Goffe; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Anderson, John Codding, John Fleischman, Jim Standridge, Dwight Mason, and Calvin Cathcart. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Wallace, Steve Berry, Tim Ballentine, John Kilgro, Harold Lott, and Marvin Herron.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Rod Carver Memorial Fund at Redstone Federal Credit Union.
