Funeral service for Thomas Alfred Holloway, Sr., age 84, of Decatur, will be Thursday, June 28, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Holmes and Becky Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Holloway, who died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his residence, was born February 15, 1934, in Gadsden, to Robert R. Holloway and Annie Miller Holloway. He retired from Champion Paper Company where he worked in maintenance, supervision, and training. Mr. Holloway was an accomplished pilot who owned two airplanes, and was an officer in the Civil Air Patrol for several years. His life interests included motorcycling, golfing, computers, and camping, but he primarily loved his grandchildren. A U. S. Army veteran who served in an artillery battalion during the Korean War, Mr. Holloway also served many years in the Air Force Reserves.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie J. Stonecipher Holloway of Decatur; one son, Thomas A. Holloway, Jr. (Dawn) of Rome, GA; two daughters, Jennifer Lynne Lambe (Tim) of Nashville, TN, and Janice Lea Dearman (Roy) of Decatur; one brother, Charles Holloway of IN; one sister, Annie Jo Ashley of Arab; and three grandchildren, Megan Porter (Scotty), Sydney Lambe, and Callie Ryan Holloway.
Pallbearers will be John Tomlinson, Scotty Porter, Mike Cauthen. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Atchley and Dr. Adnan Seljuki.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society or local animal shelter.
