Bette Sue Moneypenny

July 24, 1928 - December 8, 2017

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.  Psalm 95:1 Funeral service for Bette Sue (Ringo) Moneypenny, age 89, of Decatur, will be Thursday, December 21, 2017, 11:00 a.m. in Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church of Decatur with Rev. Josh Britt and Rev. Roger Jenkins officiating, and Shelton Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service at the church chapel.  Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Mrs. Moneypenny, who died Friday, December 8, 2017, at River City Center, was born July 24, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Virginia Ringo.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hamilton Moneypenny, her parents, and two sisters, Jane Weber and Thelma Smith. She is survived by two daughters, Ann Allen (Robert) of Decatur, and Martha White (Michael) of Arden, NC; six grandchildren, Joshua Britt, Paula Britt Little, Timothy Britt, Brett Allen, Penny White Williams, and Ellen White Dumaine; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moneypenny lived in Louisville, KY until retirement.  She worked as Lab Technician and Office Manager for several physicians' offices, as well as supporting her husband in the operation of Moneypenny Hardware.  She served as organist for Rockford Lane Baptist Church for many years, and supported the music ministry in each church she attended through choir, ensemble, and solo.  She also volunteered at local hospitals in Louisville and Decatur.  Bette was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Allen, Mr. Michael White, Mr. Timothy Britt, Rev. David Little, Mr. Tim Williams, and Mr. Michael Dumaine. The family respectfully requests memorial gifts be made to Alabama Baptist Children's Homes or to Courageous Church in lieu of flowers.  Designated gifts for the Children's Home can be sent to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1667, Decatur, AL 35603.  Gifts designated to Courageous Church can be sent to P. O. Box 6166, Huntsville, AL 35813.
