Joan Leigh McKelvy

May 21, 1955 - April 7, 2022

Celebration of life and service for Joan Leigh McKelvy, 66, of Danville will be Monday April, 18th at 6:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Joan died Thursday, April 7th, 2022. She was the daughter of John Hobson McKelvy and Mary Sue Self McKelvy. Joan was employed by General Electric in Decatur as a Quality Analyst for 35 years. She remained a loyal and dedicated employee until her health no longer permitted. Joan loved animals. She owned horses, birds, and even raised wild turkeys in her barn once. She loved music and was learning to play her Martin guitar. She liked to knit and crochet and covered a lot of us in scarves and hats. She pursued many outdoors pastimes like hunting, fishing and kayaking. But her favorite enjoyment was probably driving her white Corvette that she tagged Cloud9. All of these enjoyments brought her to the one thing she really treasured the most and that was the people and friendships in her life. She was preceded in death by mother and father, Survivors include her brothers, Joel Vann McKelvy (Traci) and John Scott McKelvy (Mona), three nephews Michael Paul McKelvy, Jacob Vann McKelvy, Lucas Payne McKelvy and one niece, Mary McKelvy Wright.
