Monica Ann Saxton

March 1, 1962 - November 10, 2021

Services for Monica Ann Saxton, age 59, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Charles Merrill officiating.  Rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Saxton, who died Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born March 1, 1962, in Seattle, WA, to Frank Mattas and Barbara Ann Starkston Mattas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerome Mattas.   Mrs. Saxton taught history in the Huntsville Public School System for eight years.  Monica considered herself to be a walking, talking encyclopedia of useless information.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Thomas Wayne Saxton of Decatur; one son, John Williams; one daughter, Jody Williams of Illinois; two stepchildren, Thomas Saxton of Yazoo City, MS, and Brittany Saxton of Decatur; one brother, Paul Dyess of Athens; and nine grandchildren.    Pallbearers will be family and friends.
