Chester Steven ""Chet"" Humphries

Funeral service for Chester Steven Humphries, age 47, of Decatur, will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 12:00 p.m., at Beltline Church of Christ with Randy Owens and Scott Bailey officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service at the church. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Humphries, who passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Parkway Medical Center, was born June 10, 1964 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Eleanor Ann Humphries and Hollis Edward Whitman. He was also fathered and influenced by Edwin (Bubba) Puckett and his adoptive father, George Humphries. He is survived by his loving wife Kim Humphries of Decatur, AL; two sons, Chris Humphries and Cole Humphries, and one daughter, Cara Humphries; one sister, Holly Napier of Columbus, GA; three brothers, Tony Humphries of Phenix City, AL, Phil Humphries of Loganville, GA, and Jeff Humphries of Columbus, GA; one stepsister, Jamie Whitman Thornton, of Houston, TX and two stepbrothers, Troy Whitman of Lebanon, TN and Bryan Whitman of Alabama. Chet was a very special man to everyone he came in contact with. He had a heart and spirit bigger than life. His optimism and kindness were enjoyed by those that were blessed to know him. He was never too busy for a laugh, never too down for a hug, and lived his life constantly to let his family and friends know he was there for them. He will be truly missed, but will always be remembered in the hearts of the people he loved. He loved God and it showed in his smile and the way he lived his life. Pallbearers are Bill Cook, Ron Dunaway, Steve Harris, Mark McWhorter, Jeff Parker, Alan Robinson, Stan Wallace and Mark Waters. Honorary Pallbearers are his brothers and sister and every man and woman that ministered to him in the past three months. His family will be forever grateful for the time and love you gave to us during this time. A special thank you to his employees at Allegra Print and Imaging who worked so diligently for him and his family as he was enduring cancer treatments. Heaven has a new angel, but we are so thankful that God shared him with us first. In lieu of flowers please make all donations to the Beltline Church of Christ Benevolence Fund so that Chet can continue to share in the lives of others.
