Funeral service for David Lee Williams, age 83, of Decatur, will be Monday, December 30, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, 3301 Spring Avenue Decatur, Alabama with Bro. Joe Holmes and Bro. Ron Manly officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Williams, who died Friday, December 28, 2019, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born May 10, 1936, in Cordova, Alabama, to Jeran and Viola Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joel Williams; three brothers; and four sisters. He was retired from Champion Paper Company, and a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly Bullock Williams of Decatur; a daughter, Lisa Terry (Rick); grandsons, Ross Terry (Kayla) and Patrick Terry; great-granddaughters, Katelyn Terry and Kollins Terry; and two sisters, Susan Jones (Sonny) and Teresa Meadows (Phill).
The family would like to acknowledge the kindness of Dr. James Murphy, Dr. Russell Barr, Dr. Scott Matthews, and the caring staff of Decatur Morgan Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
