Obituary

Graveside service for Mary Elizabeth Franklin Shand, age 77, of Decatur, will be Friday, March 19, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joe McKaig officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Shand, who died Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born September 22, 1943, in Birmingham, to Claude Franklin and Alice Phillips Franklin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Shand, and her parents.  Mrs. Shand loved life and her church, and was a loving aunt to her nephews and nieces.

She is survived by two brothers, Ray Franklin (Linda) of Hartselle, and Thomas Franklin (Gwen) of Decatur; one sister, Martha White (Joe) of Huntsville; three nephews, Chad Franklin, Chris White, and Glen Franklin; three nieces, Tammy Warren, Jennifer White, and Christy Warren; and a host of great-nephews and -nieces. 

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
